Friends of Type features original typographic design and lettering – fresh visual content – practically every day, by the four primary contributors. Posts are meant to log ideas, express ourselves, and inspire each other and our readers. The last week of every month we feature a guest designer, someone we admire and think will elevate our work and the site through their contribution.
This is a sketchbook, an archive, a dialogue. The posts are sketches and ideas on visualized language; a collaborative habit born out of the realtime interactions that made us friends in the first place.

Onesidezero is the portfolio of British Illustrator Brett Wilkinson. Working from his studio in Leicester, Brett creates bold, graphic and playful illustrations filled with colour. His work is widely used in advertising and editorial whilst adorning products of all shapes and sizes. In addition to producing commercial work Brett's illustrations are regularly featured in art publications and exhibitions.
Brett is also a founding member of Inkthis; an annual design event showcasing a wealth of creativity from Internationally recognised artists. He has provided art direction to over 100 leading image makers, curating five exhibitions to date in both the UK and Hong Kong.
MWM Graphics is the Design, Fine Art, and Illustration Studio of Matt W. Moore. Matt W. Moore is the founder of MWM Graphics, a Design and Illustration studio based in Portland, Maine. Matt works across disciplines, from colorful digital illustrations in his signature “Vectorfunk” style, to freeform Watercolor Paintings, and massive Aerosol Murals. MWM exhibits his artwork in galleries all around the world, and Collaborates with clients in all sectors. Matt is also the Founder of Core Deco and Co-Founder & Designer for Glyph Cue Clothing. So, we build a web site or an application and want to add search to it, and then it hits us: getting search working is hard. We want our search solution to be fast, we want a painless setup and a completely free search schema, we want to be able to index data simply using JSON over HTTP, we want our search server to be always available, we want to be able to start with one machine and scale to hundreds, we want real-time search, we want simple multi-tenancy, and we want a solution that is built for the cloud.
